Whilst summer might be the most popular choice for your photoshoot session, let me tell you a secret: Autumn and Winter sessions are my all-time favourite photos to capture. Why? Picture your favourite, coziest, most beautiful outfits, gorgeous layers, and a breathtaking location all yours to explore and enjoy!
The warmer weather boasts strong, bright light, the cooler months offer something more whimsical and romantic. Picture dreamy, soft, muted tones, misty mornings and gentle sunshine that beautifully paints subjects and scenery in its most flattering form.
As Autumn and Winter tend to be less popular choices for outdoor sessions you’re likely to have many of the best locations virtually all to yourself for the session, making it a perfect choice for intimate family moments, bare skinned maternity sessions and capturing candid moments uninterrupted by onlookers. It’s true that the weather can be more temperamental, however there’s still many beautiful days to be found between April and September, and the results are always so much more unique - we may get fog, or breath-taking storm clouds, a soft, dreamy grey sky (trust me, it photographs spectacularly!), or cool tendrils of winter sunlight. There’s no way to predict it, no way to plan it, and the results are always beautiful because they are utterly unrepeatable. If you’re after a session that will look uniquely yours and fill you with the spirit of adventure, a winter/autumn session may just be for you - I know it’s definitely for me.
If the day of your session approaches and the weather is predicted to be particularly icy or wet, don’t panic, I won’t proceed with a session if I feel it won’t produce beautiful results or that you won’t be able to enjoy the experience.
